St Peters Church,Dalwood

About us: St. Peter’s Parish church is 15th century and was restored in 1881. The walls are built of flint and the pillars are made from Beer stone. The roof is slate. The original church was narrower. The South wall was demolished and rebuilt 3ft. further out, the box pews were removed, the gallery which stood above the tower arch taken down and the carved oak screen removed.

The nave and chancel have eight windows and a south doorway, fragments of medieval glass remain in some windows. The north aisle has six windows. The west tower has buttresses, battlements, two bell openings and a window above an arch doorway. There is a polygonal stair turret on south side with battlements and gargoyles. The nave and chancel roofs are Victorian. The semi-octagonal pulpit is early Jacobean. The stone Font is placed beside the South Door.

Find Us: The church address is Dalwood Lane, Dalwood, Devon, EX13 7EQ, and it is situated in the centre of the village almost directly opposite The Tuckers Arms PH. and a few hundred yards east of the village community shop.
